Jerry Watts Obituary, Death – Jerry Watt, the leader of The Rockets in addition to being a husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather, passed away tonight while he was surrounded by his family. He continued to battle bravely right up until the very conclusion of the conflict.
It is because of his contributions to the musical world that his legacy will live on forever. We will all miss him very much here at the company. It was always Jerry’s motto, “Let the music play,” and his aspirations will be followed out in that the Rockets will perform their last concerts. Jerry’s philosophy was “Let the music play.”
It is with great regret that I must announce that The Rockets, a band that has become well-known to thousands of fans, will no longer be the same. As a group of people hailing from Bonteheuwel, we will never stop feeling an enormous amount of pride for Jerry. Jerry, who moved to Bonteheuwel when he was just six years old in 1961,
after having spent his childhood on a farm near Kraaifontein, has contributed so much to the community that he will be remembered for a very long time. This is because Jerry has made such a significant impact on the lives of so many people in Bonteheuwel.
Our deepest sympathies go out to each and every member of the band, as well as to their loved ones and close friends. We, the people of Bonteheuwel, are proud to count Jerry, a native of the area, as a member of our community, and we would like to express our gratitude to him for his dedication to music in addition to his dedication to the community and to the ideals of freedom.
