Charles Brown Obituary, Member Of The Hower Vocational High School Has Died
Charles Brown Obituary, Death – Charles Brown lived to be 80 years old before passing away on February 10, 2023. His parents and brother Robert, as well as numerous relatives, and shipmates, all before him in death. His wife, Dorothy, and his children Charlie (Jennifer) and Bernice all survive him, as do his grandchildren Amber (Cody), Charlie (Haileigh), Brandie, Jeremy (Grace), and Katie, as well as great-grandchildren Maria (born in December), Clair (born in May), and Walter.
After finishing high school, he enlisted in the Navy and served aboard the USS BEARSS DD-654 and the USS STRIBLING DD-867 from 1961 to 1965. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1965, he was immediately hired by Ohio Edison, where he worked for 34 years before retiring in 1999 as a licensed welder after having worked at the Beech Street Plant, the Gorge Plant, Buildings and Grounds, and the Garage at Division.
In 1966, he married the woman of his dreams after meeting her at the FLAME Drive-in. Charlie enjoyed target shooting, playing cards, fiddling with anything that required fixing or improving, and attending his Naval reunions since 2001, along with the adventures they brought. He also visited every state except Hawaii. He had a soft spot for German Shepherds, which he bred and rescued. His hobbies included chimes and woodworking. Dotty was awestruck by his ability to reconstruct her kitchen exactly as she had described. Most of his creations were given as presents or donated to auctions during his Navy reunions.
We appreciate the excellent care provided by the team at Summa Hospice. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home of Ciriello and Carr, 39 S. Located on Fairlawn’s Miller Rd. Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Thursday, at a time to be revealed in the Wednesday publication.
