As of now, he was receiving chemotherapy and expected to “Into full swing by April. Throughout the years 2011-2016, Louie Belletieri was featured on WFMZ’s Sunrise Chef.
From 1986 until this year, he was the proud owner of Louie’s Italian Restaurant, an Allentown institution. Before that time, in 1958 specifically, the eatery had been in the hands of the same family for three generations. Losing these, what I’d call notable characters, who have been a part of the community for a long time is very sad. “He was one of those,” Tony Iannelli, a friend of Belletieri’s and the CEO/President of the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, said. He also made headlines by making runs for mayor of Allentown and commissioner of Lehigh County.
In 2020, Belletieri made headlines when he admitted to owing almost $90,000 in state sales taxes and then entered a guilty plea. He received a two-year probationary period and was ordered to pay $89,000 in restitution. Iannelli remarked, “His life was very interesting, not without the occasional controversy.” Long-term, however, he was dedicated to his business, his hometown, and the people who lived there believes that this is what will make him most memorable to others: his ability to make people happy and his passion for helping others. I think he was a good man, and I’m grateful for the time I got to spend with him and the positive influence he had on the world around him.”
