Thomas Wilson Obituary, Thomas Wilson Has Passed Away

Thomas Wilson Obituary, Death – Thomas Wilson 68, of Big Island, Virginia, died away peacefully on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at his home. Born to the late Augusta and Houston Wilson on December 13, 1954, he grew up in Bedford County. The deaths of his parents and siblings David Wilson, Junior Wilson, Elizabeth Branham, and Connie Wilson, all occurred before his birth. For 27 years, Tommy welded at Commercial Steel Erection in Madison Heights, Virginia.

Tommy enjoyed the outdoors in all its forms, especially sharing his passion for baseball with his best friend and love of his life, Kayden Overstreet. Many people will miss him, but we all have wonderful recollections of our time spent with him. Tommy is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kathy Hawkins Wilson; their daughters, Kathy Sue and Kelly Wilson; daughter-in-law, Richard Goff; special grandsons, Kayden (Littleman) Overstreet and Colton Manning; brother, Darrel Wilson; sister, Carrie Dean Wilson; very special friend that has been by his side the whole time, Brett Wilson; special great nephew, Jennings West; and many other family and friends.

Thanks to the Centra Hospice Care Team for their compassion and support during this difficult time. Tommy was a fighter who fought cancer for seven years; now he may rest in peace. Tommy requested cremation with no memorial services, and his family will respect his wishes. The American Cancer Society accepts donations of any size. The family is being helped by Burch-Messier Funeral Home which is located at 317 W. Main St. in Bedford, VA.
