ByWard MarketĀ Shooting, Ottawa – On Tuesday morning, about 1:20 a.m., police officers responded to a complaint regarding a man who had been shot on York Street. The individual’s name has not been released at this time. The phone call was a response to an earlier complaint about the service. The Murder Unit of the Ottawa Police Service is now conducting an investigation into a gunshot incident that resulted in the death of a person that took place at the ByWard Market (OPS).
On Tuesday morning about 1:20 a.m., police officers responded to a complaint of a male victim who had been shot on the 200 block of York Street. The victim was located in the vicinity of York Street and York Avenue. The victim was reportedly in a critical state at the time of the report. The victim of the gunshot did not have the time to heal from his wounds, and as a result, he passed away as a result of the injuries he sustained.
This is the most recent and the fourth of the homicides that have taken place so far in this year. Many paths in the neighborhood have been blocked off as a direct result of the presence of law enforcement officers, investigators, and other personnel in the neighborhood. Vehicle movement is no longer allowed on the portion of Cumberland Street that is situated in the center of Murray and Clarence Streets.
This closure is effective immediately. As a result of an accident that occurred between Dalhousie and Cumberland Streets, Murray Street is currently closed to vehicular traffic. Through traffic is not permitted on the portion of Clarence Street that runs between Dalhousie and Cumberland streets.
