Craig Unger Death, Obituary – We regret to notify you that Craig Unger, a member of our board, has died. We wanted to pause right now to celebrate his life and show our gratitude. He is unquestionably one of the most loving, kind, and altruistic individuals to have ever lived.
Everybody he came into contact with felt comfortable around him. There are simply not enough words to appropriately describe the influence he had on this town since he affected so many people. We appreciate you, Craig. We wish you a peaceful night of sleep. Join us for a brief moment as we honor his life.
Please leave a reminiscence of Craig in the comments if you know him. Craig was the youngest of Pauline & Dr. Robert Unger’s five children at the time of his birth in St. Charles. Craig was raised in the county of Deschutes. He graduated from Redmond High School in 1976 and the University of Portland in 1980 with a degree in criminology.
First joining the McMinnville Police Department, his career in law enforcement swiftly moved to the Redmond Police Department, where he remained until his retirement in 2009. 911 said that Craig’s radio voice remained composed in tense situations. His early professional years were devoted to protecting and educating our children.
Craig oversaw the D.A.R.E. program, which taught Redmond students how to avoid accidents. Later, when he served as the school resource officer, he had a significant impact on the lives of numerous Redmond High School students, particularly those whose life decisions required some guidance and a lesson in the law.
For instance, he once wrote a student a traffic ticket and promised to tear it up if the student returned to him with a story contrasting good and bad behavior and taught five other students. Throughout his employment, Craig served as a volunteer ambulance driver for the Redmond Fire Department and was regularly required to respond quickly.
