Mary Acorn Obituary, Death – Mary Acorn was greeted by her Lord at her entrance into Heaven on February 13, 2023, when she was 68 years old. Ted Acorn’s cherished wife and companion. A devoted mother to her daughter Laura Acorn. cherished sister of Bruce (who is married to Marjorie), Donald (who is married to Cathy), and Fred (Beth). Her brother Billy passed away before she did. Their parents, Thomas and Loretta McKay, had passed away before them.
Ted’s family, along with his brothers David and Brent, will mourn his passing profoundly (Brenda). Mary Ellen worked at the University of Waterloo for a total of 39 years as the Federal Business Officer for Research Funding. Throughout that time, she won the respect of the academics and employees at the university for her ability to thoughtfully and doggedly tackle difficult problems. Mary Ellen was a very talented knitter of socks, cross stitcher, and quilter who won multiple awards for her work. Both the Waterloo County Quilters Guild and the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association could count her as a proud member at one point.
She was a voracious reader, an eager follower of sports, and a lover of music, with a particular interest in the work of Canadian musicians. Mary Ellen devoted a lot of her time and energy to history, which included the research she did on her family history and family tree. On Monday, February 20th, from three to six o’clock in the evening, the family of Mary Ellen will be present at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, which is located at 507 Frederick Street in Kitchener and can be reached at (519) 749-8467. On Tuesday, February 21st, visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m., and a Funeral Ceremony will be held in the chapel at 10:30 a.m. After that will be the reception. Parkview Cemetery was chosen for the interment.
