Steve Ostrander Obituary, Walt Disney World Member Has Peacefully Passed Away
Steve Ostrander Obituary, Death – Steven Allen Ostrander was born to Alton and Ila Ostrander in Watertown, South Dakota. His father’s job took the family from Watertown to Yakima, where he completed his childhood. Subsequently, Steve, in a spirit of adventure, set out on a voyage to see all 50 states, planning to stop in each one and get a job as necessary. That’s how he ended up in Florida, working at Walt Disney World, where he met his future wife.
They all ended up in Lake County, Illinois due to work opportunities, family obligations, and educational opportunities. They co-parented Tara Simmons and Michalina Ostrander. Steve had always been fascinated by cameras, so he got his start in the field as a bookkeeper at a camera store in Yakima. The photography industry piqued his interest, and he found employment with Tamron USA. In his travels, he befriended many people thanks to his genuine kindness, good humor, and willingness to spend time with strangers.
Steve and Millie decided to become snowbirds in 2022 after they had weary of the harsh winters in Illinois. Their new winter home would be in Buckeye, Arizona. Because of his untimely death on February 15, 2023, he never got to experience the mild winters and bright sunshine of Arizona.
Millie, his wife of 41 years, his daughters Tara Simmons and Michalina, and his namesake and only grandchild, Steven DuBay, all survive him. He leaves behind his sister Sharon (Dale) Lang, brother Gerald (Kris) Ostrander, brother Terry (Twyla) Ostrander, and many nieces and nephews. Darrell and Michael Ostrander, his older brothers, and their parents all predeceased him.
