Kenneth Boyd Obituary, Member Of Albemarle County School Has Sadly Passed Away
Kenneth Boyd Obituary, Death – Kenneth Boyd passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. Ken entered the world on October 10, 1947, in the nation’s capital. He had a childhood passion for basketball that was cut short by a vehicle accident while he was a senior in high school. Ken had a prosperous career in banking before transitioning to an independent financial planning firm in 1991. At the age of 34, Ken wed his sweetheart, Brenda, and the couple settled in Charlottesville, Virginia, where they remained for the next 36 years.
Outside of the office, Ken enjoyed taking his family fishing, traveling, camping, and coaching his boys’ sports teams. Serving others was his life’s work. After a successful campaign, he was elected to the Albemarle County School Board, where he remained for four years. He was elected to the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors in 2003 and served there for 12 years, including two as chair. After selling his financial planning firm in 2018, he retired to Southport, North Carolina. Upon reaching retirement age, he eagerly anticipated trips to the beach and visits with his relatives.
His family includes his wife, Brenda Boyd, his sister, Judith Hershey, three sons, Kenneth Carson Boyd Jr. and wife, Annette, of Richmond, Virginia, Patrick Donohue Boyd and wife, Nicole, of Charleston, South Carolina, and Andrew Cory Boyd and wife, Kelley Hullett Lasley, of Charlotte, North Carolina; a daughter, Kelley Hullett Lasley and husband, Darren, of Charlotte, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Joshua Carson His brother, Robert Wayne Boyd Jr., and parents, Robert Wayne Boyd and Trudy Donohue Boyd, both passed away before him. The Southport Presbyterian Church will host a memorial service for him on March 18, 2023, at 11 a.m. Gifts to Community Home Care & Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice may be made in lieu of flowers.
